FALSE.  If you decide to join the ranks of UBER drivers, be aware that you may not have insurance coverage even though you are paying for it.  The new ride sharing services like UBER or LYFT, some of the more popular ones, are creating issues for drivers wanting to make sure they have insurance.

Almost all auto policies have an exclusion for livery (better known as taxi service) and your auto policy will not cover you.  Even if you have an auto insurance policy that covers your personal car, as soon as you turn on your UBER APP most insurance companies will exclude the coverage.

Some insurance companies are now offering options to help cover some of these issues.  So, it’s very important to check with your agent to discuss options.  You want to make sure you have coverage or understand how your policy will cover you.  Call us with questions 920-898-5731.
